Bullseye Projects / Zeinab Harding

The Somerset Table was created in collaboration with London-based wood carver Zeinab Harding and Portland-based Bullseye Projects. Working from a silicone mold of an original carving, High Desert Observatory created a reverse relief casting that captured the motif in crystal clear glass. Somerset Table debuted at Collect 2020, the UK’s premiere fair for craft and design.

Emily Counts

While developing a new body of work, Seattle-based artist Emily Counts sent us a series of wax forms to be cast in opaque glass. These forms were later incorporated into mixed media sculptures.

Heidi Schwegler

Known for working in a variety of materials, we worked with Heidi Schwegler to transform a distorted pillow into clear cast glass. Through consultation, Schwegler created the casting mold in her studio before bringing it to us to be fired in our studio kiln.

Carolyn Hopkins

Portland-based artist Carolyn Hopkins visited our studio to learning about glass fusing while completing components for a series of sculptures.

“Working with Michael was a breeze - he understood my vision and was able to show me the techniques I needed to implement in order to get the visuals effect I was aiming for. Michael is a wonderful instructor, patient and good at breaking processes down into steps.” - Carolyn Hopkins
